How many units for your event?
Start with the number of people on site at the busiest hour, not total tickets. Plan 1 standard unit per 75 guests, add 1 for every 4 if alcohol is served, make at least 1 accessible in each group of units, and add a hand-wash station wherever food is served.

- Backyard graduation, 80 guests, 5 hours, no alcohol: 80 ÷ 75 → 2 units.
- Church picnic, 250 guests, 6 hours, food: 4 units + 1 hand-wash station; make 1 unit accessible.

Layout tips that prevent lines and complaints
- Split units into two clusters at large venues so nobody walks more than a few minutes.
- Put hand-wash stations beside the cluster, not across the venue.
- Keep units downwind of food service and out of direct afternoon sun.
- Light the path for evening events; the trailer has interior lighting, standard units don’t.
- Leave a truck-width route for a mid-event service visit.
Frequently asked questions
How far ahead should I book porta potties for an event?
For most events, 1–2 weeks is enough. For June–October weekends, holiday weekends and anything needing 10+ units or a trailer, book 3–4 weeks out. Large orders are confirmed by a specialist who checks inventory.
When will the units be delivered and picked up?
For a weekend event, units usually arrive Friday and are collected Monday. If your event is on a Sunday or holiday when drivers aren’t running, delivery happens before the event. Pickup after a holiday moves to the next business day.
Can you service the units during a multi-day event?
Yes. Add a mid-event service visit to the quote—pump-out, clean and restock between days. The festival organizer in our example asked for one extra service during a two-day event.
Do I need an ADA unit for my event?
Public and permitted events generally need accessible units: at least 5% of each cluster, minimum one (2010 ADA Standards §213.2). Private parties should add one if any guest uses a wheelchair.
